Yemeni Pop-up Brunch: Meet me at Fatma's

Yemeni cuisine is like no other; a fusion of Indian, Turkish and East African cooking born out of a rich history of trade & migration. And yet, despite its inviting aromas and depth of flavours, it is almost unheard of.

ISHKAR partnered with the wonderful Fatma Al-Baiti on her one year anniversary of Meet me at Fatma's Yemeni Brunch at a converted warehouse near Liverpool Street Station. Fatma is a passionate foodie and blogger keen to tell London about the culture and cuisine of her home country through London’s first Yemeni pop-up brunch.

We learnt about the rich diversity of Yemeni cooking, enjoying delights from all regions of the country from Shafoot; a bread-based appetiser with a herby yoghurt sauce and a freshly made Yemeni chutney, Khameer, a light & airy Yemeni “dough-not” that has a hint of spice and sweetness paired with Ful; a homemade fava-bean curry. Guests were invited to dance with Fatma to typical Yemeni music. We can't wait until the next brunch like this.
