HANDWOVEN KILIMS
ISHKAR works with artisans around the city of Mazar-e Sharif in Afghanistan, hand-weaving kilims from raw wool, combining contemporary design with age-old techniques.
Part of what makes Afghanistan’s kilims so special is the wool they are made from. Each strand of wool is individually spun by hand, giving the kilims great character. With its unusually long strands, Ghazni wool is also famously hardwearing, meaning Afghan carpets can survive for centuries.
We’re pleased to offer a bespoke kilim service, allowing you to design just the right kilim for your clients' projects, in the colours, design and size of your choice.

HAND-KNOTTED CARPETS
ISHKAR carpets are hand-knotted by talented weavers in northern Afghanistan using Ghazni wool, a variety of wool unique to the country and known for its luxuriant finish as well as its unique way of absorbing colour which gives the carpets Abrash.
Unlike many rugs that come from Afghanistan, each of our rugs is 100% produced within the country, from weaving through to finishing. This means that Afghanistan's artisans capture more value for their work.
Our wool carpets allow for great flexibility and can be made following the design and dimension of your choice, tailored to your needs and those of your clients.

CUSTOM AND BESPOKE
We know how hard it can be to find a design that fits, that's why we offer the possibility of customising our range or going bespoke.
While our standard sizes are great for most homes, our custom service lets you tweak, shrink or expand most of our designs to make your kilim or carpet the perfect fit.
